A good time to decide if you need a professional cleaning service to come in and completed your cleaning tasks is while taking an inventory of your workplace. First impressions of your business matter and dirty spots tend to make your business a less pleasant place for your customers and your employees. If you find that your business is too dirty, you may need a deep cleaning. Deep cleaning is the process of cleansing a space beyond just the visible dirt and might involve removing dust, mold, grime, and bacteria that can build up over time. Deep cleaning focuses on high-traffic areas, but professionals also ensure that hard-to-reach surfaces are thoroughly wiped and disinfected. Here is some advice on where to start your cleaning, or where to direct your cleaning team.
Start In The Employee Kitchen
Employees will usually not do any deep cleaning in the kitchen area. They will wipe up messes and spills but when it comes to a deep clean, they do not do it.
Here is an idea of where to start in the kitchen:
- Deep clean the grout: Kitchen grout is notoriously under-cleaned and tends to degrade much faster when neglected and should be done on a monthly basis.
- Remove surface dirt with hot water and a towel.
- Mix together ½ cup baking soda, ¼ cup hydrogen peroxide, and 1 tsp dish soap.
- Spoon cleaning agents onto the grout and let sit for 5-10 minutes.
- Scrub the grout lines with a brush.
- Wipe clean.
- Deep clean the fridge: The fridge shelving needs to be cleaned and the smell needs to be resolved. Weekly employees should be warned that the cleaning company will do the deep cleaning as the fridge needs to be emptied of any of their food. If employees have medicine that needs to be cooled, they need to put it in a container with their name on it and the cleaning company will work around it.
- Deep clean the cupboards: Dust out the cupboards weekly; even if they are only filled with plates, cups, and saucers — the shelves get dusty.
- Deep clean the garbage bins: If you want to be sure your garbage can is germ-free, spray down the inside and outside of your trash can with a disinfectant cleaner. Allow the disinfectant to sit for 5 minutes to allow for dwell time. The cans should be inspected inside and out weekly and sprayed down monthly.
Cleaning The Walls And Floors
Floors normally get lots of attention; however, the area where they connect with the wall is often neglected. Things that are hanging on the walls are often neglected. Monthly those need to be dusted.
Additional areas that need inspection:
- Deep clean baseboards: Each week you will want to wipe down your baseboards with a clean microfiber cloth dampened with warm water to remove the baseboard dust. Rub down the baseboards with a fresh dryer sheet. This last step will create a barrier that repels dust and dirt and keeps your baseboards looking beautiful for longer.
- Deep clean the walls: Monthly wall cleaning is the best way to avoid repairing or repainting stained drywall. Pay special attention to spots on the wall behind desk, behind appliances, and near heat sources.
- Deep clean the curtains and blinds: Washing the curtains and dusting the blinds each month will help your workplace feel fresh and bright.
The Most Important Room To Clean Is The Bathroom
Your bathroom needs daily, not weekly, deep cleaning. How do you clean a commercial bathroom?
The 7 steps for cleaning your commercial restroom:
- Put Up Wet Floor Signs.
- Dust, Sweep, and Empty Trash.
- Refill Soap, Paper Towels, and Toilet Paper.
- Clean Toilets and Urinals.
- Clean Sinks, Mirrors, and Countertops.
- Clean Walls and Fixtures.
- Mop the Floor.
Deep Clean Your Office Furniture
Even if your employees or regular cleaning staff do frequent wipe-downs, this is no substitute for deep cleaning. We recommend having desks and workspaces in your office deep cleaned at least twice a year. Office cleaning services typically focus on cleaning tasks such as vacuuming, dusting, and disinfecting surfaces. In contrast, commercial cleaning services can provide more specialized services such as deep cleaning and window washing.
A cleaner workplace changes customer and employee perceptions and can help you become a more successful business.
